Borno Govt To Reintegrate 1,000 Repentant Boko Haram Terrorists
The Borno State Government has announced its plans to reintegrate over 1,000 repentant Boko Haram fighters into society. Naija News had reported that no fewer than 1,000 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province members had laid down their arms and surrendered to Nigerian troops.
In a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army said the repentant terrorists will be processed and passed on to the relevant government agencies for further assessment in line with extant provisions.
Gbajabiamila Appeals To ASUU To Keep Calm, Says Buhari Will Intervene
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamiala has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has shown interest in the issues of half payment to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). According to him, efforts to find lasting solutions to the concerns frequently raised by ASUU were on, hence the union should maintain calm.
Naija News reports that Gbajabiamiala, in a statement signed by himself in Abuja today, said since ASUU called off its eight-month-old strike a few weeks ago, the Executive and the House of Representatives have been working to address the issues that led to the strike.
